Christian IV was a culture consumer of the highest order. In order to always have the best art available at his court, he often sent delegations to Europe. In 1600, he sent three musicians to Italy. We don’t know exactly what he asked them to bring back, but this concert program makes an educated guess. Musica Ficta has teamed up with leading researchers who are currently mapping this particular journey and offering suggestions as to what the intention was. We know that the king often imported instruments, music and musicians, and at this concert Musica Ficta performs works that were most likely brought home. Join us on a musical trip to Italy as Musica Ficta and Bo Holten present the greatest music from the European Renaissance.
